Here’s a time-lapse video of one of my paintings. The landscape is a view of the Langdales in Cumbria. It’s been on YouTube for a couple of years and seems very popular! It lasts for about 30 seconds and there’s no sound.
Walking around Lever Park in Rivington this morning I watched the sun rising over a bank of fog. As it did,I noticed the way that mist flattened the sense of depth in the landscape. You can see the effect in the photo posted below:
I’ve been developing a set of landscapes based on imagined landscapes. The inspiration for these landscapes comes from the pennine hills that are my home, but the actual views are entirely imaginary. In this painting I’m trying to catch the fleeting effects of light created by rapidly moving show clouds.
