Commission a Painting
Family portrait commission
Paintings make a unique gift for your partner, relatives, newlyweds - or perhaps just for you. Paintings never go out of fashion and they keep their vibrant colours long after photographs have faded. I can offer portrait commissions and house commissions. See below for frequently asked questions and for tips on taking photos for commissions.
House Commissions
House painting commission
Most of us are very proud of our houses, so there's no reason why your home shouldn't be celebrated by a commissioned painting. The procedure is very similar to painting a portrait. I can paint the house from good photographs, from your favourite viewpoint, choosing the time of day with the most favourable light.
Commissions: Frequently Asked Questions
Family portrait commission
Do you paint portraits directly from the subject?
The best portraits are painted from life, so if you prefer we can arrange to meet, at your home or my studio.
What about Portraits from Photos?
Painting portraits from photos is a difficult skill if the
artist is to avoid a stilted, photographic look to the finished
painting. But frequent or lengthy sitting are difficult for busy
adults, and impossible for children. So if you can send me good quality
images, I can paint a portrait from them. The wonders of the internet
mean that you can email me your photos and I can start working on a
commission straight away.
Can I see a Price List?
The smallest size (10 x 8 inches) cost just £40. A 16 x 12 inch painting (any subject) costs £96, a 20 x 16 inch painting will cost £160 and a 20 x 30 inch painting will cost £300. Other sizes are available - contact me for more details.
How Long Will It Take to Complete the Painting?
Working entirely from photos, I can complete a commission
in 2 weeks. Most commissions take between 4 and 8 weeks to complete.
Very large commissions can take several months.
